All of a sudden our Javelin CS-100 today started to print strange symbols instead of the numbers it usually print when we do a transaction. After a while it print normal again and then started again with the symbols. What is the reason and how can we correct this problem.

Hi Gabriel,
Firstly, make sure you are changing the ink roller on time. They will become stiff as they age and cause printer trouble. Otherwise, the printer may be worn or dirty. The printers only last a few years and then they should be replaced. This is normal for tiny entry level printers.

Hi Hallie,
No you can't. They only have a little cheap drum printer so you can't print a message. They are not really supposed to be a receipt printer. Most people have a separate manual stamp and they stamp each receipt before handing to customer. Otherwise, spend about another hundred dollars when buying a register and you move into the thermal printing class so you can have a receipt message.

How do clear the day before takings after you z key it, I did the day then z key it and the days amount is still there I need it to go to 0 so I can see each day's takings

Hi Tracey,
It should zero the machine after it finishes printing. You might have printed an X report by mistake. Make sure there is a Z at top of report, not X

Hi Iantwy,
It uses an IR40 ink roller available from many office supply stores or online. You grasp the small tab that has the word "PULL" on it and pull it straight up out of the printer. Line up the new roller and press it into the holder on the printer.

I have a Javelin CS-300. I haven't used it for a few months now and have got it out and replaced the paper but it is still saying 'PAPER' on the screen and won't respond to anything. Any suggestions on what to do? Have tried turning off and on, nothing seems to work

Hi KJC,
Make sure the paper is the correct width. If too narrow, it can cause this problem. Also, make sure you have inserted it into the printer correctly. If your model has a head release lever on the printer, check that it is locked.

E1 error (loud noise) keeps occurring. Have tried turning off & on, doing a z read, reprogramming, putting it back to journal but it keeps happening, even after you press c for cancel.

Javelin don't supply error codes for the low end models. Can you perform a NO SALE operation without the error? If so, you may be operating it incorrectly (for example using a decimal point will cause errors).

just got the cs100 out of storage. Can not see where to thread the paper for printing receipt?

Hi Vera,
There is a slot in the back of the little printer mechanism. Hold down the feed button as you insert paper

It has a printer problem. Check for jamming in the printer. Make sure the ink roller is fresh. Otherwise, have it checked by a technician.

No it is not normal.
Try setting the key to register mode with the power turned ON and change the batteries.
Then turn off and on again. If it doesn't recover, take it to a dealer for repair.

Hi Keisha,
Most models have a small trigger in a hole under the drawer that can be used to release it. If that doesn't work, you may have to unscrew the drawer to remove the tray and check the cause of the jamming.

It sounds like you might be using a decimal point. never use a decimal when entering prices. try typing 123 then press a department (item) button then cash

Yes, this is common when using ink on a thermal roll. The ones you need are 57mm bond rolls. They should be rough on both sides of the paper. Any office supply company should have them. EFTPOS rolls are shiny on the front

How do you use the CS100 without paper and ink as our Javelin has a PE error we cannot get rid off. We have previously used it without paper with no issues until this error came up. Thank you

The CS100 doesn't have a listing for error numbers so just check the usual things:
