Ah, the first time I had one of these, I had to look it up. It means the machine is locked because no one is logged in to use it.
You will either have clerk/ cashier buttons near the mode key (push down ones) or a special metal bar type key that slots in the front of the machine, or a clerk sign on button on the keyboard somewhere (type a sign on code then press clerk). If you can't find the right method, let me know.

Thanks for your response but unfortunatley i still cant do anything with it! These tills are 18 years old and it has never happened before! It will not let me use any buttons, in any mode and i cant see anything in the manual. I do not have a key that fits in the keyhole in the front of the machine so maybe that is the problem!! But not sure how it could possibly have locked in the first place without a key!!

That's okay. Firstly we need to find out which clerk system has been set, then we can change it if necessary.
You will need a service key. check your metal mode keys and see if any of them can turn past PGM2 position. If not, let me know if one of them has MA written on it.
