Hi, We had a power out. Our Reg is on a UPS. But when we came in this morning it had an error on screen. Shouldn't be related to the power issue due to the UPS but maybe that didn't work properly either - unknown really as it was during the night. Anyway - have searched online and found the " PGM MODE - power off at wall - hold down receipt feed button - power on - wait for FFFFF's - release receipt feed button" advice. Tried it a few times and LLLLL's never changed to FFFFF's. We have held for a least 30 secs (watching a clock). Don't know what else to do. Any ideas. Still have two hours before the tech office opens - let alone they can get themselves out here to fix it. It's gunna be a long day here, any help would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks kieah |

Hi. Yes, it definitely has to do with the power cut. It means the battery will be faulty because the register should keep the programming and sales in memory for around 2 months. What you are seeing is the result of memory loss due to a faulty battery. The TE4000 uses a special internal rechargeable Lithium battery which should be replaced every 4 to 5 years (a good dealer will normally place a reminder sticker on the machine). It is probably trying to use an original battery to hold the memory during power cuts so this will happen. Normally the flag clear you are trying should still work to jump the machine out of init mode even if there is memory loss but it may be too severe in this case. Try it a few more times (you definitely don't need to hold RECEIPT FEED more than 5 seconds but sometimes it takes a few attempts). Make certain the key is turned to program mode. If you manage it, sometimes the data is still there and it will recover. If not, you will need to have a technician replace the battery anyway and possibly a re-program. They may have a backup on their PC which can be transferred into the machine to speed up the process. |
