My TE-2400 just froze. None of the key works. Tried unplugging and turned it back on. Got weird 8 0s with Xs in it on top, upside down As and 8s on the bottom. Can anyone help!!!

Hi.
Try turning it off at the power. Turn the key to PROGRAM mode. Hold down receipt feed button. Turn on at the power and wait 3 seconds. Let go of receipt feed.
You should see 'FFFFFFFFFF' on the display.
Press subtotal.
The machine should print a receipt.

If it doesn't work, can you take a photo and upload it so i can see which version you have? Also, check the contrast control (USA version has no contrast control)

Ok. If it has batteries in the printer compartment then it is the USA version. Other versions have a built in rechargeable battery.
If you had the power turned off when you changed them, you will have lost all sales data and programming.
The USA version has a problem where the connectors come loose from the display so that may be the cause of the strange characters you saw.
Does the display light up at all now?

Paid $140 for restoring the program. For future reference, there is a reset botton on left hand side with the cable. Try holding it with journal feed botton to solve the problem according to the technician. Make sure you leave the plug on when change the batteries.

yes. That was going to be my next post. It still doesn't explain the scrambled characters you had but maybe they pushed the cables back in for you. Glad to hear it worked out ok.
