I am trying to follow the owner's manual for my TEC SL-9000. I have just purchased a new register system with scanning technology and need to program my deli scale accordingly for price embedded barcodes.

This manual is practically in a foreign language. Can anyone break this down into manageable information for me?

Hi Amy,
Bar coding can be very technical and cause you to lose a lot of hair :)
I haven't programmed this model before, but I'll try to help. Firstly, are you getting any bar code at all on your labels at the moment?

If anyone is looking for a TEC SL-9000 manual, go here:

I have been working TEC regsiters and scales for 20+ years.
I have done many SL-9000
Barcode programming is hard but not impossible.

What register system do you have ?

Can you get a label from your scale and give me the entire number below the bar code ?
There are many ways to go wrong and this will help me find where the problem is.

Do barcode tattoos fade into a black box if done correctly? I heard that barcode tattoos fade after a while into a solid black box. I was wondering that if you had a good artist, took care of it correctly and etc...would you have that problem? Answers preferably from those who have a barcode tattoo.
